How about some crispy golden brown waffles for a lazy weekend breakfast? Last week I was lucky to receive a Volcano Waffle Maker from the lovely peeps at Andrew James for a bit of testing so this post will be all about how we got in the kitchen and what kind of goodies came out of this collaboration!

Andrew James Volcano Waffle Maker is a new arrival in their waffle maker range, currently priced at £29.99 on their website (click here to purchase yours)it is a must-have gadget for your kitchen! For the less savvy or just simply busy bees, there are also some pre-made waffle mixes you can buy.

Let’s talk about what the producer says about it:

Easy to Use

“Even though it is a highly innovative product, it is still easy to use. Attach the funnel to the top of your machine and plug it in. You’ll know when it has reached perfect waffle cooking temperature as the green indicator light will switch on.”

Fast Cooking

The 700W electric waffle maker cooks waffles in under 5 minutes and can reach a maximum temperature of 220 degrees centigrade. But don’t worry about hot fingers, the cool touch handle lets you open your waffle maker safely whilst it is hot. If your waffles feel as if they are sticking a little when you lift the lid, just give them another minute to cook thoroughly. Thanks to the non-stick waffle grill plates your waffles should lift away cleanly when they are properly cooked.

Easy Clean

After you’ve finished creating your delicious, homemade waffles, the non-stick plates can be wiped clean using a hot, damp, soft cloth. If there is any residue left around the neck of the machine, where the funnel attaches, use a soft brush to sweep the dry mix out.

Compact Storage

When not in use your Volcano Waffle Maker stores neatly away. The funnel can be unclipped from the top and secured into its own purpose created slot under the waffle maker for a slimline, flat profile. You can also wrap the cord around the waffle machine and clip it into place so your waffle maker fits easily into a cupboard or drawer.

What do I think about it?

I’m really happy with this waffle maker! It’s easy to use and the waffles come out crispy on the outside and super fluffy on the inside.

When I got it I started off by making the basic recipe from the instruction manual just to make sure I get the quantity right since you can’t really see how much goes into the waffle maker if you’re pouring the batter through the funnel. It took about 4 minutes to get the waffle out once the waffle maker was hot, this one came out with some holes on one of the sides so I made sure I added a heaped measuring cup into the waffle maker – that definitely solved the issue, next one came out perfect.

I really love the shape of those waffles, they come out shaped a bit like a bowl so you could probably use it as a sundae bowl and add a scoop of ice cream with some fresh fruits, cream and sprinkles – I will be trying this out very soon so watch my Insta!

When it comes to cleaning the waffle maker, how easy is that?

Before I read the instruction I chucked the funnel and measuring cup into a dishwasher, then I realised you should wash them by hand. Luckily nothing happened but I will definitely be washing it by hand from now on, don’t really want any of it to get damaged, I suppose a long exposure to boiling water will damage the plastic on both measuring cup and the funnel so it’s better to be safe than sorry!

The waffle maker itself is very easy to clean – once done I have simply wiped the plates off with soapy water then dried with paper towel, no fuss cleaning. Thanks to non-stick surface of the plates you don’t have to scrape any leftovers of waffles of them.

Tip: before pouring the first scoop of batter spray the plates with a bit of coconut oil.

I really like the idea of the funnel not only it allows you to watch your waffles as they cook, it also allows you to fill in the waffle maker with exactly the right amount of batter without the risk of it going all over the sides of the machine. No burning bits to clean afterwards, a win-win situation for me!

The only thing I would be careful of and it’s probably the case of any waffle maker is the steam coming from the machine when you lift the lid – it can get a bit hot and easily burn your fingers if you’re not careful.

Volcano Waffle Maker from Andrew James gets a thumbs up from me!

Now it’s time for a recipe – easy and fast!
